Orthopaedic casting tape is one kind of surgical bandage. The casting tape is made of knitted fiberglass fabric or polyester fabric, and water-activated polyurethane resin. The casting tape is made of environment friendly materials, and the orthopedic casting tape is used for the external fixation of fracture and common orthopedics.Fiberglass bandage is made from multiple layer polymer polyurethane saturated through special fiberglass. Polyurethane is a material which contains the chain of soft block co-polymer.

How to use orthopedic casting tape? 1. Wear gloves and choose proper specifications. 2. Use cast padding or stockinet on fixed part. 3. Open a bag and take orthopedic casting tape      out of the cast, then put casting tape in room       temperature water at 4-6 seconds and press       2-3 times, take casting bandage out and       squeeze out  excess water. 4. Wrap casting bandage spirally according to the       need, keep proper tension. Wrap 2-4 layers at       non-weight-bearing position and 4-6 layers at       weight-bearing position. 5. Shape wrapped cast according to the need.      Thesolidify time is 3-5 minutes, 20 minutes later     the cast reaches the enough strength. 6. Use electric cast saw to cut and remove it.

Storage of fiberglass casting tape

1. Fiberglass casting tape should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated atmosphere. The proper temperature is 15-30 centigrade and the humidity should be less than RH60%.

2. Pay attention to avoiding breakage of the bags during transportation and storage, for touching moisture in the air can cause the casting bandage to solidify.

3. The shelf life of fiberglass casting tape: 3 years.
